Question : A number which when multiplied by 5 will be increased by 80.

Since, We have assumed x is the number. The question changes to x when multiplied by 5 is increased by 80

⇒ 5x = x + 80

To find x, unknowns should be on one side of the equation and constants on other side.

Subtracting x from both sides,

⇒ 5x - x = x + 80 - x

⇒ 4x = 80

Dividing by 4 on both sides

⇒ 4x ÷ 4 = 80 ÷ 4

⇒ x = 20

Therefore, The number is 20.
