\sf\underline\bold{★Solution}

•Let us take the unknown number to be y;one fourth of y is \dfrac{y}{4} .

This number \binom{y}{4} is more than 7 by 3 .

Hence we get the equation for\sf{y} as \dfrac{y}{4} -7 =3 .

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀• To solve this equation,first transpose 7 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀to RHS We get,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀\dfrac{y}{4} × 4 =10×4

y= 40 (The required number)

✔︎Let us check the equation formed. Putting the value of y in the equation,

LHS = \dfrac{40}{4}-7 =10 -7=3 = RHS(as required).
