Given :  x − 3y = 27 and xy = 30.

To Find : all pairs of numbers

Solution:

x − 3y = 27

xy = 30.

=> y = 30/x

=> x  - 3 (30/x) = 27

=> x²  - 90  = 27x

=>x² - 27x  - 90 = 0

=> x² - 30x  + 3x  - 90 = 0

=> x (x - 30) + 3(x - 30) = 0

=> (x + 3)(x - 30) = 0

=> x = - 3 , x  = 30

xy = 30

=> x = - 3   Hence y = - 10

x = 30  => y = 1

all pairs of numbers x and y

x = 30 , y = 1

x = - 3 , y = - 10
