\huge\red { Step\ by\ step\ explanation }

As we can see there are two different triangles formed

Area of first triangle

= √s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c) [where {s = (a+b+c)/2} and a,b,c are sides of triangle]

= √8.5(8.5-4)(8.5-5)(8.5-8)

= √8.5(4.5)(3.5)(0.5)

= 8.18cm^2

as we know that both triangles are same

then,

area of quadrilateral

= 8.18+8.18

= 16.36cm^2

\huge\red { Second\ step }

If you mean the line drawn of 2cm is perpendicular to the line of 8cm

then also 2 triangles are formed

Area of first triangle

= 1/2(base×altitude)

= 1/2(8*2)

= 8cm^2

As we know that both triangles sides are equal then their perpendicular and area are also equal

then,

Area of quadrilateral

= 8+8

= 16cm^2
