find BC if the area of a triangle ABC is 36 CM square and height AD is 6cm

area of triangle = 1/2 * base * height
36 = 1/2 * BC * 6
36 * 2 / 6 = BC
6 * 2 = BC
12cm = BC

BC=12cm
because
area of rectangle =
  \frac{1}{2} \times base \times height \\
that is
 \frac{1}{2 }  \times bc \times 6 = 36
bc =  \frac{36}{6}  \times 2
bc = 6 \times 2
so \: bc = 12cm \: ans
