=====================================

\underline{SOLUTION}

<b><i>Let ,

t1 = 4

t2 = - 1

t3 = - 6

•°• Common difference : -

t2 - t1

= ( - 1 ) - 4

= - 1 - 4

= - 5

Also ,

t3 - t2 = ( - 6 ) - ( - 1 )

= - 6 + 1

= - 5

Hence , the common difference between 4 , - 1 , - 6 is = - 5

\underline{ANSWER}\boxed{\bold{- 5}}

In AS common difference is the difference between its two consecutive terms like let first be a and common difference be d so common difference is a_{n} - a_{n-1} . And common difference is same in all the consecutive terms of the AP, like a_{n+2} - a_{n+1} = a_{n+1} - a_{n} = a_{n} - a_{n-1}.

In the question, given terms are 4 , -1  and -6.

Common difference = Difference between - 1 and 4 will be equal to the difference between - 6 and - 1 as difference between consecutive terms is same.

Common difference = - 1 - 4 = - 6 - ( - 1 )

Common difference = - 5 = - 6 + 1

Common difference = - 5 = - 5

As difference between consecutive terms is same, - 5 is the common difference between 4 , - 1 and - 6 .
