5x² - 7x + 8 = 0

Discriminant = b² - 4ac

b² - 4ac = (-7)² - 4(5)(8)

b² - 4ac = 49 - 160

b² - 4ac = -111

Answer; The discriminant  is -111

D = b square - 4ac A=5. B=-7. C=8.     D = 7*7 - 4*5*8 49-160 -111. This means this quadratic equation has virtual roots.
