Hello users.....
We have given two parallel lines
x+5y-9=0 and x+5y+7 = 0
We have to find the distance between these two lines
Solution:-
We know that
Distance(D) between two parallel lines = | C2 -C1| / √(a² +b² )
Now
By comparing
x+5y-9= ax + by +c1 = 0
and
x+5y+7 = ax + by +c2 = 0
Here
a= 1 ,b= 5 , c1 = -9 ,c2 = 7
Now
D = | c2 -c1 | / √(a² +b² )
= | 7-(-9) |/√(1+5²)
= |7+9| / √(1+25)
= 16 / √26
Hence
the distance between two parallel lines = 16/√26 unit answer
