Explanation:
Rs(series) = R1 + R2 + R3 ......+Rn
1/Rp(parallel) = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 ..... + 1/Rn
3 ohm resistors are in series so their equivalent resistance is
3 + 3 + 3 +3 = 12 ohm
So now 4 ohm , 5 ohm and 12 ohm resistors are in parallel.
Using formula for parallel combination -
1/Rp = 1/4 + 1/5 + 1/12
1/Rp = (15 + 12 + 5)/60 = 32/60
Rp = 60/32 = 15/8 ohm
The equivalent resistance of the circuit is 15/8 ohm.
