now

according to question :-

four years ago :-

Marina age = x-4

daughter age = y-4

now in question it said that :-

(x-4) = 3(y-4)

x-4 = 3y-12

x-3y = -12+4

now in second case it said that :-

six years after :-

Marina age = x+6

daughter age = y+6

now according to question :-

x+6 = 2(y+6)

x+6 = 2y + 12

x-2y = 12-6

x-2y = 6 ........(equation 2)

now subtracting equation 1 from 2 :-
