x + 1 is a factor of k²x² - 2kx - 3
f(x) = k²x² - 2kx - 3
x + 1 = 0
x = - 1
=> f (-1) = k²(-1)² - 2k(-1) - 3 = 0
=> k² + 2k - 3 = 0
=> k² + 3k - k - 3 = 0
=> k(k + 3) -1(k + 3) = 0
=> (k - 1) (k + 3) = 0
=> k = +1, -3
