Given
x + 2 is factor of p ( x ) = 2x^2 + mx + 4
To find
value of m
Solution
using factors theorem
p ( - 2 ) should be equal to 0
p ( - 2 ) = 2x^2 + mx + 4
0 = 2 ( - 2 )^2 + m ( - 2) + 4
0 = 8 - 2m + 4
2m = 12
m = 12/2
m = 6
