Find m if x - 3 is a factor of x^3+ x^2 – mx + 15

Let the given polynomial be p(x).

If x - 3 is a factor,

then,

p(x) = p(3) = 3^3 + 3^2 - 3m + 15 = 0

=> 27 + 9 - 3m + 15 = 0

=> 51 - 3m = 0

=> 3m = 51

=> m = 17
