Find magnitude of resultant force on a charge of 1 micro held at p due to two charges of 2*10^8 and 10-^8c at A and B respectively. given AP =10 cm PB=5cm angle b=90 degree.

Given AP = 10 cm, BP = 5 cm and angle APB = 900

Force at P due to charge q1 at A is F1 = 1 / 4∏є0 * q1q2 / AP2 along AP

    = (9 * 109 * 2 * 10-8 * 10-6 ) / (0.1)2 = 18 * 10-3 N

Force at P due to charge q2 at B is F2 = 1 / 4∏є0 * q2q / PB2 along BP

    = (9 * 109 *  10-8 * 10-6 ) / (0.05)2 = 36 * 10-3 N

The resultant force is F between F1 and F2 is based on Vector addition.

As the angle between F1 and F2 is 900, resultant force = F = √ (F12 + F22) = 4 * 10-2N
