Given:

  • Mass = 10 kg

  • length, l = 4m

  • Breadth, b = 3 m

  • Height, h = 1 m

To be calculated:

Calculate maximum and minimum pressure exerted by a cuboid ?

Formula used:

  • Weight of Cuboid = m × g

  • Pressure = Force/Area

Solution:

We know that,

Weight = m × g

= 10 × 9.8

= 98 N

In the first case:

Force = 98 N

Area = 4 m × 3 m

= 12 m²

Now,

Pressure = Force/Area

= 98 / 12

= 8.16 N/m² or 8.16 Pascal (Approx)

Thus, the minimum pressure exerted by cuboid is 8.16 Pa .

In the second case :

Force = 98 N

Area = 3m × 1 m

= 3 m²

Now,

Pressure = Force/Area

= 98 / 3

= 32.66 N/m² or 32.66 Pascal (Approx)

Thus, the maximum pressure exerted by cuboid is 32.66 Pa .
