Electric field lines is an imaginary lines of force which is not really exist, but its effect is real.This concept is introduce to evaluate the electric field of various charged bodies which is quite difficult to solve with the help of coulombs law.So,gauss gave an method to evaluate the electric field of various shaped charged bodies.
He told,”THE NUMBER OF ELECTRIC FIELD LINES THE PASSES THROUGH THE GIVEN SURFACE IS 1/€ TIMES THE CHARGE ENCLOSED THE CLOSE SURFACE”.
Where ‘€’ is the permittivity of the space.
Now comes to question
The number of lines of force originating from a charge of 1 C is equal to the Electric flux through a closed surface enclosing a charge of 1 C .
N = q/€
N = 1/8.85 × 10^-12
N = 1.29 × 10^11.
