Arya Samaj was founded by Dayananda Saraswati in April 7, 1875. It's main purpose is Educational, Religious studies, Spirituality and Social Reforms. Arya Samaj is probably one of the most  powerful organization for socio religious reforms India has ever seen. It also took up a strong and militant policy towards many matters. Arya Samaj adopted a scheme of religious reforms in all over the world. Idol worship, religious ceremonies, pujas and rituals were criticized as purposeless according to them. Superstitions were explained as unnecessary. Arya Samaj tried to raise the status of the untouchable by bringing them to the rank of the caste Hindus.
