In India secularism is a rule meant to be followed by Hindus only.
America is primarily a Christian state. They give importance to Christians and being Christian at present. Hindus have earned their respect and place by their intelligence, hard work and by giving back to the country in the form of taxes.
Also they don't have that much of a problem concerning religions and are quite tolerant about it. But they do have a problem with superiority complex of the white people.
