Answer: I have seen many answers to this question but from what I understand, they are asking about prevalent stories in your region. Since my region in India, I have taken the stories prevalent in various parts of India.

Explanation:

1) Using a method invented by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, Kukma village in Gujarat has built a flourishing forest using 10,000 litres of wastewater, which is purified daily to water thousands of plants.

When Kankuben became the Sarpanch of Kutch’s Kukma village, she had two pressing problems to solve — lack of green cover and water pollution from factories. She was unable to comprehend why a small village with a population of 8,200 was moving towards a larger environmental crisis, given that it was already gripped by the district’s water problem that is the lack of groundwater supply.

After innumerable panchayat discussions and a lot of research, Kankuben arrived at a solution that would mitigate the twin problems. She launched a massive wastewater recycling project that would help establish a green oasis. The idea was to create a Miyawaki forest and use recycled wastewater for its growth.

Did it work?

Yes, the village today has a flourishing forest comprising 7,500 trees. Every day, 10,000 litres of wastewater is purified in their RO plant to water thousands of plants.

2) Aaliya Mir, a resident of Srinagar, spends her days rescuing deadly vipers from Kashmiri homes, saving bear cubs and reuniting them with their mother and tracing leopard trails in the villages.

The 42-year-old former Maths teacher is famous on the internet for climbing sketchy ladders in Kashmiri homes to save snakes while wearing sports shoes, salwar kameez and a hijab. There are also pictures of her hand-feeding bears in wildlife enclosures and rescuing leopards in the valley. Of course, a wild cat will not come when called. So, in the meantime, Aaliya and her team at Wildlife SOS, a non-profit organisation for rehabilitating the wild, conduct awareness sessions with the locals. People are advised to keep their surroundings clean so that these animals don’t get a chance to take refuge in piled up garbage, pieces of wood or heaps of leaves. In the past three years, she and her team have rescued 2 leopards, 2 turtles, 3 bears, 6 monkeys, 16 raptors and 88 reptiles.Aaliya has also spent weeks conducting censuses of the wild in Kashmir.

3) Working tirelessly for the last 20 years, school teacher Alok Tripathi from Madhya Pradesh transformed 3.5 acres of arid school property into a lush green oasis.

For the last 20 years, Alok, the village headmaster, has strenuously worked to convert an empty 3.5-acre patch of the school property into a green oasis. However, due to various reasons, the plan never flourished. So finally, when in 2018, he observed a change, Alok has since been going all out to protect the plants. The school campus boasts of more than 240 varieties of fruit-bearing trees like mango, amla, jamun; medicinal plants like neem, tulsi, ashwagandha, curry leaves and other plants, including peepal, banyan and mahua.

(Guys, you can write all 3 or any 1 of them. Since I wanted my answer to be adaptable to people from various regions, I gave 3 examples. If you have any queries leave a comment, or you can see such stories for yourself from THE BETTER INDIA-ECO FRIENDLY STORIES website.)

Hope this helps you . <3
