The different processes by which fabrics are made:-

*Fabric is a plain sheet of cloth, which is made from natural or man-made fibers by weaving or knitting process.

*Most fabrics are knitted or woven, but some are produced by non-woven processes such as braiding, felting, twisting, etc.

*Fabric consider as a major raw material in the garments manufacturing process.

WOVEN PROCESSES:

1.KNITTED:-

*Knitting is a method by which yarn is manipulated to create a textile or fabric, often used in many types of garments.

* Knitting creates multiple loops of yarn, called stitches, in a line or tube.

* Knitted fabric consists of a number of consecutive rows of intermeshing of loops.

NON-WOVEN PROCESSES:

1.BRAIDING:-

*Braiding is a textile process that involves the counter-rotation of multiple fibrous yarns around a circular frame to intertwine the yarns into a braided fabric.

*Several variants of the braiding process are used to create fabrics with a 3D fibre structure, including the two-step 3D braiding

2.FELTING:-

*The wet felting technique we use is a process of laying out combed or carded fibers of wool either in the ultimate shape for their use or as a sheet of fabric later to be sewn into a garment.

* In some cases, only one or two layers are used to produce a very fine and lace-like fabric we call cobweb lace.

3.TWISTING:-

*Twisting, in yarn and rope production, process that binds fibres or yarns together in a continuous strand, accomplished in spinning or playing operations.

*Single yarn is formed by twisting fibres or filaments in one direction.

Fabrics are produced by the help of fibers that are obtained from the plant or animal source.

Explanation:

  • Ginning is a process in which cotton fibers are separated from the cottonseed or any other source like wool fibers are retrieved from sheep.
  • After ginning the weaving is done in which the two or more fibers are interwound around each other.
  • Knitting is done after weaving in which the fibers are looped out to form a yarn.
  • Spinning is the process in which the yarn is made from fibers. In this process the cotton or wool mass is twisted. This brings the fibers in close proximity to form a yarn.
  • Yarn is used for making fabrics.
