Flowers form a significant part in Indian cultural festivals and social gatherings due to the traditional and spiritual symbolism attached to it. They symbolise strength, purity, peace. Widely used in weddings, funerals, festivals like Diwali, national festivals like Independence day and “pujas”  

Lotus is used as offerings for Hindu gods and goddesses. Called India’s national flower it symbolises divinity and according to Bagvadh Gita, it represents triumph of good over evil. It is specifically used in Durga Puja.

China rose (Hibiscus) - It is used by Bengalis to worship goddess kali, the Hindu god of destruction

Jasmine used widely in southern India, it is used both for worshipping the gods as well as wearing them as garlands by south Indian women due to its smell.  

White roses used in abundance in Christian weddings due to their purity- it is representative of the virgin Mary. It is also used in the form of a bouquet during Christian wedding ceremonies and is used as gifts.  

Marigold symbolises passion and creativity and is also used in garlands, petals decorated in festivals like New Years, Diwali, national days and also used in “Toranas”. Not only does it have a good fragrance it also keeps insects and other pests away.
