You can take the temperature under the arm or rectally even in the ear
There are several different types of thermometers available to take a temperature with. A digital thermometer is one of the quickest and accurate thermometers and is able to be found in a wide range of prices. It may be used orally (in the mouth), rectally (in the bottom) or axillary (under the arm). Rectally is used most often in infants that are three months old or younger as they cannot sit still for other methods. A digital thermometer will emit a series of beeps when it has finished recording the temperature.

Electronic ear thermometers are also a quick and easy way to read a temperature. They are used in young children or infants older than three months. Do not use in children younger than three months as their ear canals are too small for an accurate reading.
