Because a farmer knows what is pain and struggle in his profession and hence he don't want his son anymore to struggle in that pain as him.... He had done his work even though it is hard but he wanted to see his son in a profession which is good.. It doesnt mean that farming is bad but instead of working with fields in hot red sun he want his sun to work in software near computer in a conventional environment.
