Given:

  • A.P → 4, 6, 8
  • First term = a = 4
  • Common Difference = d = 6 - 4 = 2

To find:

⟶ 17th term = a₁₇ = ?

Method:

Use this formula

aₙ = a + (n - 1)d

⇒ a₁₇ = 4 + (17 - 1)2

⇒ a₁₇ = 4 + 16(2)

⇒ a₁₇ = 4 + 32

a₁₇ = 36

The 17th term is 36

Additional Information:

  • Sₙ = Sum of n terms = ⁿ/₂(2a + (n - 1)d)
  • We say that a set of numbers are in A.P when the common difference is equal. Here 6 - 4 = 8 - 6 = 2. o they are in A.P
