let's change the series to -40,-37,..............14,17.
Now we should find the sixth term from the beginning of our new series...
the common difference is -37-(-40)=3
and the first term of our new series is -40
so A =-40 and D=3
nth term of A. P. =a+(n-1)d
so sixth term =-40+(6-1)3=-40+15=-25
so the answer for the question is -25 ...
hope it helps....

Let the first term be: -40
We have to find the 6th term
Common Difference be: +3
So : -40 + 5*(3)=25
