Answer:

a) 195° - 180° = 15°

b) 250° - 120° = 130°

Step-by-step explanation:

No. of minutes a clock completes in one rotation = 60

So , angle difference between each minute = 360°/60 = 6°

We know that every fifth minute is represented as an hour and there are 12 hours in one rotation .

So , angle difference between each hour = 360°/12 = 30°

a) At 6:30 , the minute hand will be at 30 minutes i.e. at 6 , which = 6 × 30° = 180° . The hour hand will be at 30/60 = 1/2 i.e. half way between 6 and 7 . Therefore , it will lie at 6 × 30° + 1/2 × 30° = 180° + 15° = 195° .

b) At 8:20 , the mimute hand will be at 20 minutes i.e. at 4 , which is = 4 × 30° = 120° . The hour hand will be at 20/60 = 1/3 i.e. a third of the way between 8 and 9 . Therefore , it will lie at 8 × 30° + 1/3 × 30° = 240° + 10° = 250° .
