Motion in a lift :

a) When lift is going up

F = m(g + a)

Doing the substitution we have :

F = 49 (9.8 + 1.2) = 49 × 11 = 539N

b) Lift going down

F = m(g - a)

Doing the substitution

F = 49 (9.8 - 1.2)

F = 49 × 8.6 = 421.4 N

3) A body experiencing free fall

F = mg

Doing the substitution we have.

F = 49 × 9.8 = 480.2 N
