Answer :

       The Area of Triangle = 36cm²

        The perimeter of triangle = 27.7cm

Step-by-step Explanation : ( please see the attached document for diagram)

     Given :  AP = 9cm

                   BC = 8cm

    To find : Area and perimeter of the Triangle = ?

  AP is drawn perpendicular to BC ,

    Therefore BP = PC = 1/2 × BC

                      BP= PC = 1/2 × 8

                      BP = PC = 4cm

  So,

      We know that,

      Area of Triangle = 1/2 × base × height

   Area of Triangle ABC = 1/2 × BC × AP

 Substituting the given value in above formula we get,

   Area of Triangle ABC = 1/2 × 8 × 9

                                        = 4 × 9

                                        = 36 cm²

In ∆ APC,

      By applying Pythagoras theorem,

        AC² = AP² + PC²

        AC² = 9² + 4²

                = 81 + 16

        AC² = 97

        AC = 9.8 cm

In ∆ APB,

   By applying Pythagoras theorem,

We get, AB = 9.8 cm

We know that,

        Perimeter of triangle = sum of all the sides

                                            = 9.8 + 9.8 + 8

   Perimeter of triangle = 27.7 cm
