We can clearly see that all the sides of the middle part are equal and the angle between them is 90°.

So we can conclude that it's a square.

Now, area of a square = side^2

= 12 * 12

= 144cm^2

Area of the triangle = 1/2 * base * height

= 1/2 * 4 * 12

= 2 * 12

= 24cm^2

Hence, the area of the shape = 2 (area of triangle) + area of square

= 2(24) + 144

= 48 + 144

= 192cm^2

Correct option is c) 192cm^2
