Answer

The area of a rhombus = 24 square cm

Length of other diagonal =6cm

Solution

The area of a rhombus

Area, A= ab

b is the length of the base

a is the altitude (height).

Given that  side = 5 cm and whose altitude is 4.8 cm

Therefore A=5 x 4.8 =24 square cm

To find length od diagonal

if one of its diagonal is 8 cm long say d1=8cm

Area can be also written as 1/2(d1d2)

We know that A=24

Therefore 1/2(d1d2) =24

               d2 = (24 x 2)/8 = 6cm

Length of other diagonal =6cm

Find the area of the rhombus:

Area = Length x Height

Area = 5 x 4.8

Area = 24 cm²

Find the length of the other diagonals

Area = 1/2 (Diagonal 1 x Diagonal 2)

24 = 1/2 (8 x Diagonal 2)

24 = 4 x Diagonal 2

Diagonal 2 = 24 ÷ 4

Diagonal 2 = 6 cm

Answer: The area is 24  cm² and the length of the other diagonal is 6 cm
