The given figure is of a star , symmetrical in all aspects .

Here , let us find the area of the upper half first .

The upper half can be further divides into a trapezium and a triangle .

Area of the trapezium :

=> ½ × [ Sum of parallel sides ] × [ Height ]

=> ½ × [ 16 + 8 ] × 5

=> ½ × 24 × 5

=> 60 cm²

Area of the triangle :

=> ½ × Base × height

=> ½ × 4 × 6

=> 2 × 6

=> 12 cm ² .

Area of the upper half :

=> 60 cm² + 12 cm ²

=> 72 cm².

Area of the entire figure :

=> 144 cm ² .

This is the required answer.
