ar ( ABCD ) = 390 cm²

Join BD .

Now , in ∆ABD , Angle A = 90°

Hence , area of ∆ABD = ( 1 / 2 ) * Base * Height

= ( 1 / 2 ) * 40 * 9

= 180 cm²

Now , in ∆CDB , Angle C = 90°

Hence ,

Area of ∆CDB = ( 1 / 2 ) * Base * Height

= ( 1 / 2 ) * 28 * 15

= 210 cm²

Now , area of polygon ABCD = Area of ∆ABD + Area of ∆CDB = ( 180 + 210 ) cm² = 390 cm² .
