===========================================

this is a close  fgure

we see that there is a squre of side 6cm

so ,

area of that square = side *side

                                 = 6*6

                                     = 36m²

now let us divide the figure into 2 rectangles

like this [ in the photo given below]

now let us find the area of abcd

=>l *b

=>6*2

=>12 m ²

now let us find the area of awxy

=> l *b

=>10 *8

>80 m²

so the area of whole figure

=>area of abcd +awxy

=>12 +80

=>92 m²

now area of shaded ragion

=>area of whole figure  - area of the inside square

=>92 - 36

=> 56 m²

======================================

hope it helps u...............

First lets divide the pic in different shapes

so when we divide we will get a small rectangle and a rectangle

so we will find area of rectangle and rectangle and add it

then we should find the area of inner square

and the last step is we should subract area of inner square from sum of two shapes

so lets start solving it

area of small rectangle = l*b

= 2 * 6 = 12m

area of rectangle = l*b

= 10 * 8 = 80 m

sum of 2 rectangles = 12 m + 80 m = 92m

area of  inner square = s*s

= 6*6 = 36 m

area of shaded region = sum of two shapes - area of inner square

= 92 - 36 = 56 sq.m

hope it helps u.....
