In triangle abc draw perpendicular bisector from A to Bc meeting at point D such that BD = DC = 4 ( Since bc =8),also given  AD and AC = 5)

so in Right angled triangle ADB we know AD = 5 and BD =4 so we have to find the height Ad through Pythagoras theorem

AD² +BD² =AB²

AD²+4²   = 5²

AD² = 5² - 4²

AD² = 25 - 16

AD² = 9

AD =√9 = 3 (Height)

Now Area of the triangle = 1/2 * Base * Height

so here Area = 1/2 * 8 * 3

=4 *3 = 12cm²
