Answer:

Area of shaded region = Area of rectangle - Area of Unshaded Region

Area of rectangle = 4m × 10m = 40m^2

(Label the two unshaded triangles as triangle I and II)

Area of unshaded region = Area of triangle I + Area of triangle II

Area of triangle I = 1/2 × h × b = 1/2 x 3 x 2 = 3m^2

Area of triangle II = 1/2 × h × b = 1/2 x 5 × 2 = 5m^2

Area of unshaded region = 3+5 = 8m^2

Area of shaded region = 40 - 8 = 32 m^2
