Area of the whole rectangle = 21 × 11

                                               ⇒ 231 cm²

Area of unshaded parts = 1×11 + 1×21

                                       ⇒ 11 + 21

                                       ⇒ 32 cm²

∴ AREA OF SHADED REGION = 231 - 32

                                                  ⇒89 cm²
