From the picture, we can conclude that:

⇒ The diameter is the the length of the square

⇒ 14 - 3 - 3 = 8cm is the length of one diameter and 2 radii

Find the radius

1 diameter = 2 x radius

4 radius = 8 cm

1 radius = 2 cm

Find the area of the 4 semicircles.

4 semicircles = 2 whole circle

Area of 1 circle = πr²

Area of 1 circle = π(2)² = 4π cm²

Area of 2 circles = 4π x 2 = 8π cm²

Find the area of the small square in the middle:

Length of the square = Diameter

Length of the square = 2 x 2 = 4 cm

Area = Length x Length

Area of the square = 4 x 4 = 16 cm²

Find the area of the whole square:

Area = Length x Length

Area = 14 x 14 = 196 cm²

Find the area of the shaded region:

Area of the shaded region = 196 - 16 - 8π = 154.86 cm²

Answer: 154.86 cm²
