area of the blades of the magnetic compass = 4.98 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

see attached picture for magnetic compass

area of the blades of the magnetic compass

= area of two triangle

Triangle has sides 5 , 1 , 5

s = (5 + 1 + 5)/2 = 11/2

Area of one triangle = √(11/2)(11/2 - 5)(11/2 - 1)(11/2 - 5)

= √(11/2)(1/2)(9/2)(1/2)

= 3√11  / 4

√11 = 3.32 given

= 3 * 3.32 /4

Area of both triangles = 2 * 3 * 3.32 /4

= 3 * 3.32 /2

= 3 * 1.66

= 4.98 cm²

area of the blades of the magnetic compass = 4.98 cm²
