Given is a figure ABCDEFGH

•We have to find its area

Let's take it as three different figures; two rectangles that are AIGH and DJFE and the third rectangle BIJC

Given

• Length of AB is 6 cm, but we have taken a rectangle AIGH and it is given that length of HG is 3 cm, so tge length of the rectangle AIGH is 3 cm and breadth is already given i.e. 1 cm.

Like recatngle AIGH , the length of rectangle DJFE is also 3 cm and breadth is 1 cm.

• The length of recatngle BIJC is 6 cm i.e. already given as BC= 6cm and its breadth is 3 cm as initially it was 6 cm but the other 3 cm is taken as length of rectangle AIGH, so the remaining is 3 cm.

Now,

Let's find the area

We know the formula to find area of rectangle i.e. Length×Breadth

Area of rectangle AIGH = (6×3)cm= 18cm²

Therefire the area of rectangle DJFE is also 18 cm², because they both are same.

Area of rectangle BIJC =(6×3)=18 cm²

Now add the area of all the figures= (18+18+18) cm² =54 cm²

So the area of given figure is 54 cm²
