By Pythagoras theorem

hypo²=1st side²+2nd side²

40×40=24×24+2nd side²

1600=576+2nd side²

1600-576=2nd side²

1024=2nd side²

2nd side=32

area of triangle=1/2×base×height

=1/2×24×32

=384
