The area of the shaded region is 137.8 m²

Given:

A rectangle with dimensions 19.6 m × 15 m

To find:

Find the area of the shaded portion

Solution:

The dimensions of the rectangle are 19.6 m × 15 m

From the given picture we can divide the rectangle into 3 rectangles

[ For more understanding observe the given picture ]

From the figure

Dimensions of rectangle - 1 are 19.6 m × 2 m

Area of the rectangle 1 = 19.6 × 2 =  39.2 m²

Dimensions of the rectangle - 2 are 5.4 m × 11 m

Area of the rectangle 2 = 5.4 m × 11 m = 59.4 m²

Dimensions of rectangle - 3 are 19.6 m × 2 m

Area of the rectangle 3 = 19.6 × 2 =  39.2 m²

From the above calculations

Area of the shaded region

= Sum area of 3 rectangles

= 39.2 m² + 59.4 m² + 39.2 m²

= 137.8 m²

Therefore,

The area of the shaded region is 137.8 m²
