(1)

Given : Radius = 7 cm

Side of a square = 7 + 7 = 14 cm

Therefore, Area of square = 14 x 14 = 196 cm^2

Area of a circle = πr^2

=> 22/7 x 7 x 7

=> 22/7 x 49

=> 154 cm^2

Hence, Area of shaded portion is :-

=> 196 - 154 = 42 cm^2

(2)

Given :

r1 = 4.5 m

r2 = 2.5 m

Area of a circle = πr^2

=> 22/7 (4.5^2 - 2.5^2)

=> 22/7 (20.25 - 6.25)

=> 22/7 (14)

=> 44 cm^2.

Hence, Area of shaded region is 44 cm^2.
