Join BD, Now ABD is a right triangle where right angled at A

=> BD is the hypotenuse

=> BD = \sqrt{AB^{2}+BD^{2}  }   (by pythagorous theorem)

=> BD = \sqrt{4^{2}+3^{2}  } = \sqrt{16+9  } = \sqrt{25 } = 5cm  (which also the diameter of circle)

=> radius of the circle = \frac{BD}{2} = 5/2 cm = 2.5cm

=> area of the shaded portion =  area of circle - area of the rectangle

= [\pi( 2.5)^{2} - (4*3) ]sq.cm

= [ (3.14) (6.25) - 12) cm²

= (19.63 - 12)cm²

= 7.63cm²
