We know that the area of a square is equal to the square of the measure of each side.

If we assume each side to be a then area of the square will be,

Area of the square = a^2

Here,

Each side, a = 3 m 40 cm = 3 * 100 + 40 cm = 340 cm

Area of the square = a^2 = 340^2 = 115600 cm^2

Converting the area into m and cm,

115600/100 = 1156 m^2
