Sol:

Draw a line BC parallel to AD and draw a perpendicular BE on CD.

It can be observed that ABCD is a parallelogram.

BC = AD = 25 cm

CD = AB = 60 cm

CF = 77 − CD = 17 cm

For ΔBCF,

Perimeter of a traingle 2S = (25 + 26 + 17)

S = 68 / 2 = 34.

By Heron’s formula area of a traingle = √S( s- a)( s- b)( s- c)

ΔBCF    = √34( 34 - 25)( 34- 26)( 34- 17) =  204 Cm2 .

area of a ΔBCF = ( 1/ 2) X BE X CF.

              204 Cm2   = ( 1/ 2) X BE X 17

BE = 408 / 17 = 24 Cm.

Area of ABCD = BE x CD = 24 x 60 = 1440 cm2 .

Area of the field = 204 + 1440 = 1644 cm2 .
