Question - Find the area of Triangle whose vertices are P( -1 , 1 ) , Q( 0, 5 ) & R( 3, 2 ).

Solution:-

The area of the triangle formed by the vertices P(-1 , 1) , Q(0, 5) & R(3, 2) by using formula

=> 1/2 [x1 (y2 - y1) +x2 (y3 - y1) +X3(y1 - y2)]

Here

x1 = -1 ,x2 = 0 & x3 = 3

y1 = 1 , y2 = 5 & y3 = 2

Putting Values :

= 1/2 [ -1(5 - 1) + 0(2 - 1) + 3(1 - 5)

= 1/2 [ -1 (4) + 0 + 3(-4)]

=1/2 [ -4 +(-12)]

= 1/2 [ -4 - 12]

=1/2 × 16

= 8 square units

The area of triangle is 8 square units.
