Find the buying price of each of the following items when a sales tax of 8.5% is added on
them.
(i) a towel of 350
(ii) Two bars of soap at 35 each.​

(i) a towel of 350  buying price = 75

(ii) Two bars of soap at 35 each  buying price =   73.5

1) sales tax on towel = (50/100)*50

                             =25

buying price = 50+25 =75

2) cost of two bars = 35+ 35 = 70

sales tax on soaps = (5/100)*70

                              = 70/20

                              =7/2  

                              =3.5

buying price = 70+ 3.5

                   = 73.5
