Answer:

Solute 0% and solvent 300%

Explanation:

Liquid detergent is not a substance (powder) add 250 with 50 the ans is 300. The solvent in the substance in which the solute is being mixed.

Given: Volume of liquid detergent 50ml, Volume of water 250ml

To find: % by volume of solute and % by volume of solvent

Solution: We know that solute is the material that is dissolved in the solvent to make a solution.

And solvent is the material that decides the physical state of the solution, whether it will be liquid, solid or gas because solvent is in higher amount.

Here we can say that the liquid detergent will be the solute and water will be the solvent

Therefore, Volume of Solute( liquid detergent ) = 50ml

Volume of solvent ( water ) = 250 ml

Volume of Solution= Volume of solute+ volume of solvent

Volume of solution= 300ml

We need to find, % by volume of solute and % by volume of solvent

% by volume of solute = volume of solute/ volume of solution × 100

% by volume of solute = (50/300)×100 = 16.67%

% by volume of solvent = volume of solvent/ volume of solution ×100

% by volume of solvent =( 250/300)×100 = 83.33%

Therefore, % by volume of solute is 16.67% and % by volume of solvent is 83.33%.
