find the capacity in litres of a conical vessel with height 12 cm, slant height 13cm

Swetha03K: Did they give d radius..?
Palak2468: 1/2 of diameter= radius
Swetha03K: But there is no diameter in the question
Palak2468: Ya in this question we have found the value of r^2 by a formula l^2=h^2+r^2

h=12cm
l=13cm
l^2=h^2+r^2
(13)^2=(12)^2+r^2
169=144+r^2
169-144=r^2
r^2=25
Volume of cone=1/3πr^2h
=1/3×22/7×25×12
=314.28cm^3
1000cm^3=1l
Capacity in litres=0.31428l

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Height (h) = 12 cm

Slant height (l) = 13 cm

Let r be the radius of the conical vessel.

Slant height (l)²= r²+h²

r = √ r² - h²

r = √13²– 12²

= √169 – 144

r = √25

r = 5 cm

Volume of the cone = 1/3 πr²h

= (1/3 × 22/7 × 5 × 5 × 12)

= (2200/7) cm³

Capacity of the vessel = (2200/7× 1000) L

= 11/35 L

Capacity of the vessel =11/35 L
