A relation from a set X to a set Y is called a function if each element of X is related to exactly one element in Y.

eg :

X  = {1,2,3,4}

Y = {6,7,8,9,10}

X is not a relation to set Y

X = {4,5,6,7,8}

Y = {1,2,4,9}

X is a relation to set Y (Exactly one element is common which is 4)
